The Perkins runs out of Dalegarth Station to allow the River Mite to run round her train

Rander 4 (1130 ex Ravenglass), had to be double-headed on Thursday 24th October 07 due to very heavy traffic loadings and poor railhead conditions. The Shelagh pilots River Irt towards Dalegarth

The return train (Rander 5) saw the two locos top & tailing with the River Irt leading and Shelagh ticking over on idle

In the meantime Quarryman was sat in Dalegarth siding top and tailing with Perkins

The first train of the day was the double-headed departure of the River Esk and Shelagh of Eskdale, (due to heavy loadings and poor railhead conditions)

When the first train reached Irton Road the diesel was detached and returned to Ravenglass where she was coupled to the River Irt for the next departure, (it should have been the Mite but she failed with a faulty steam compressor)

The shelagh will be detached at Irton Road again. she will then couple on to the rear of the first train from Dalegarth and go as far as Miteside where she will couple to the front of the additional 1150 ex Ravenglass steam train, hauled by a repaired River Mite, as far as Irton Road then return to Ravenglass

A late run for Shelagh involved a 1710 ex Ravenglass departure with a single coach, the loco seen here running round her short train.
